Links to State & Local Repositories

AAMU is a dynamic and progressive institution with a strong commitment to academic excellence.

The Joseph F. Drake Memorial Learning Resources Center (LRC) consists of 73,485 square feet of space, can house up to 400,000 volumes, and seat well over 1,000 patrons.

AAMU's University Archives and Special Collections maintains digital collections for accessible use.

Since 1901, the Alabama Department of Archives & History (ADAH) has been the home of Alabama history. The first state-funded historical agency in the United States, the ADAH was established to collect and preserve the historical materials of the people of Alabama, and to use that material in sharing their stories.

AlabamaMosaic is a repository of digital materials on Alabama's history, culture, places, and people. Its purpose is to make unique historical treasures from Alabama's archives, libraries, museums, and other repositories electronically accessible to Alabama residents and to students, researchers, and the general public in other states and countries.

Alabama Tourism continues upward momentum, boosting jobs and economic growth statewide.

AHC work to accomplish our mission through two fields of endeavor: Preservation and promotion of state-owned historic sites as public attractions; and, statewide programs to assist people, groups, towns and cities with local preservation activities.

In 1984, the Alabama Historical Commission, the State Historic Preservation Office, created the Black Heritage Council (BHC) to advocate for and advise the Commission on the preservation of African-American historic places in Alabama.

HMCPL Special Collections is the community's archive. We empower individuals to seek their past, explore Huntsville and Madison County, and connect with history.
