The Velma Walker Art Collection
 
Velma Ann Walker, a proud alumnus of Alabama A&M University, bequeathed a diverse art collection to the State Black Archives to assist in further enhancing its mission. This expansive and prized collection includes works by such renown African American artists as Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, and Benny Andrews, to name a few.  The collection can currently be viewed at the State Black Archives.

Brick by Brick:
The Legacy of Henderson & Daniel Brandon 
This exhibition showcases eleven structures built by the Brandons, three of which still stand.  These buildings include the Baker-Helms Building at 101 Washington Street, the Harrison Brothers Building, 112 Southside Square, owned by the nonprofit Historic Huntsville Foundation, and the Humphrey Bros Building at 112 Main Street in Madison.

Freedom: A History of Us

Drawing on materials from the Gilder Lehrman Institute and covering American history from the founding era to the election of President Obama, this exhibit commemorates those who fought for freedom.
